Over time, I have discovered that one striking characteristic about many of us is the fact that we can talk so much about issues, trending vices, The state of the nation, the poor state of education, the dollar – naira exchange rate, the number of sexually explicit videos out there, how so and so musician released a song with X – Rated lyrics, how the next generation are gradually turning so sexually impure, how everyone is so interested in what they can loot from the economy and so on and so forth. And like Proverbs 14:23 correctly states “Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!” NLT. On most occasions, we would talk and complain for hours only to return to our comfort zones and do nothing; only to return to the same gathering or witness the same event some other time again and do the complaining for hours many times, hissing profusely.
One of the major problems we have got on our hands really is the issue of the misuse of the topic of sex. Sex on its own is beautiful and intended by God for us humans but it is to be experienced only in marriage. We have gotten to a stage all over the world where it is a norm to experience sex and its siblings (masturbation, pornography, incest, rape and the likes) as a teenager/young adult. The media is not helping matters as content displayed on our visuals as well as newspapers, internet and even the audios. I one typed sexual purity on a search engine and really the results were disappointing. The young ones who are determined to keep themselves pure are beginning to lose their guard and join the bandwagon of those who care less about their virginity. Our pulpits no longer pour out these messages. News from north and south not helping matters too. It is quite disturbing.
But, I got to know some group of people. Well, not only do I know them, I happen to have been a part of them for a long while. Mind you, this is no paid advert it’s a sincere and unbiased article from my heart. Like the line in Tasha Cobbs’ Break every chain, ‘There’s an army rising up!’ These ones have emerged as the army that will not only talk about these things but will EMERGE as giants to fight against these vices. Hence the programme ‘VIRGINITY DAY!’
Virginity day is a programme by the emerging giants called “Mine Teenage Ministry” aimed at reaching to all young ones, teenagers and young adults alike with the message of sexual purity as a whole. We are tired of having to complain day after day without doing anything about the rising rate of rape, incest, pornography, fornication, prostitution and other sexual related sins. They have successfully by the help of God devised a means of gathering everyone from all over the world to stand for one purpose – Sexual purity. Mine Teenage Ministry has successfully raised teenagers who are emerging as the Daniels’, Ruths’, Deborahs’, Enochs’, Samuels’, Joshuas’, Jeremiahs and Esthers of our next generation. Virginity day holds on the second Saturday in the sixth month (June) of every year. This month’s programme will be holding on the 13th of June in several cities in and outside Nigeria and it promises to be explosive. It is tagged “Shout of Purity”. There is no stereotype at all as those who are not virgins and are deciding to make a U – turn and begin to stand for God are also welcome; Jesus loves you and He can make you pure again.
In lieu of that, a formula was set which is
Virgin: Keep yourself
Non Virgin: Please make a decision today to return to God. He can make you pure again
We have decided to stand even if it means standing alone in this world but guess what, there are thousands of young adults standing with you so you are not standing alone.
The programme would be holding in the following cities like
Lagos, Ilorin, Calabar, Abeokuta, Ado Ekiti, Ibadan, Markurdi, Ogbomosho, Akure, Ile, Ife, Port – Harcourt, Uyo. Then, outside Nigeria in Ghana and the United States. It would be starting with a forum by 10 am / 9:00 am as the case maybe till 1:00 pm when we all march out to raise our voices to the whole world with dances, raising of placards, singing and all. Remember is a shout of purity not silent whispers of castigtion.
Please do attach yourself with one venue and be blessed.
Below is a comprehensive list of the convergence points of each city and the numbers to call just in case you need more information. You can also contact them on social media as their networks will be displayed too. The meeting time is 10:00am apart from Ibadan and Calabar who chose 9:00 am as their meeting time.
